Troubleshooting
Solutions for common issues with Power BI Agent.
Power BI account not connected or not visible
Symptom: you see no datasets or an error about the Power BI connection.
- Go to Power BI and check whether your account is connected.
- Has the connection expired? Click Reconnect and re-authorize via Microsoft.
- Verify that your Microsoft account has access to the workspace in Power BI.
Dataset not visible in Claude
Symptom: you don't see the dataset when asking a question in Claude.
- Check whether the owner has assigned you to the dataset under Organization > Datasets > Users.
- Check whether the dataset is active (not deactivated).
- Check whether your own Power BI account has access to the dataset in Power BI (minimum role: Member).
Quota reached
Symptom: Claude reports that your quota for this period has been reached.
- The owner can view usage under Organization > Usage.
- Upgrade to a higher plan or increase the number of seats. See Set up subscription.
Skill not available
Symptom: an analysis you expect doesn't work or returns a generic answer.
- Check whether the correct skills are assigned to the dataset under Organization > Datasets > Skills.
- Check whether the dataset uses a recognized data model (Power BI Connector data model or Davista Power BI Template). Without a recognized model, standard skills are unavailable. You can create custom skills and assign them to the dataset.
Claude connector not working
Symptom: Power BI Agent does not appear in the + menu in Claude, or shows a connection error.
- Go to Claude in the portal and check whether the connector is active.
- Remove the connector and reconnect by following the steps on the Connect Claude page.
- Check that you have a Claude subscription — the free version of Claude does not support connectors.
